Victims of Hurricane Sandy
What can I say? The last few weeks have been a real eye opener. We have all seen images of destruction and devastation on TV in the past. To have it in your own backyard is a different story. Unless you have been out and about from your neighborhood the last several weeks, it is hard to really describe what is out there. I have had the pleasure (even though it is under terrible circumstances) of meeting many victims of this terrible event we call Hurricane Sandy or Superstorm Sandy or whatever other name some fancy meteorologist might have dubbed this storm. I have heard terrible stories from many of them. One man had to pull his daughter from the rushing storm surge to save her life. Another man was just steps away from a tree that has stood for over 100 years from killing him. Hurricane Sandy has certainly left a mark in minds and our hearts as we try to help those in need.
Here at Catizone Electrical Contracting we are trying to get people to understand the dangers of the flood waters that have entered their home or business. This is a major fire hazard. We have been in homes that have had the wiring smoking and smoldering and the homeowners had no idea. Please make sure the electrician in your home or business is doing the right thing. Changing out receptacles and switches is NOT the answer. Hurricane Sandy's flood waters are easily absorbed into the jacket of the wiring. The wiring is not meant for wet locations. I have heard of too many instances of electricians not doing the right thing. I understand many homeowners do not have the resources to properly rewire the first floor, crawl space or basement of their home. We will work with you. The last thing we need are fires all over the south shore after everyone has rebuilt their homes. We are not raising prices as so many have. We are keeping our competitive rates and even doing monthly payments with customers so they can be safe in their homes after Hurricane Sandy. Do not be mistaken...it is imperative that the wiring be replaced.
Hopefully Hurricane Sandy will be a distant memory for all of us. Unfortunately it is a bitter reality for most. We have been working seven days a week to assist in the rebuild of Long Island after Hurricane Sandy. We will continue until all of our client homes and businesses are safe and ready to operate. Remember, wiring is not a hobby, call a licensed professional.
